Important Notes About DNS Records
DNS changes are not immediate. New or modified DNS records require time to propagate across DNS servers worldwide.
Reducing Propagation Time
You can temporarily lower the TTL (Time to Live) value before making DNS changes:
- Navigate to Account Manager --> DNS Management.
- Click
Override TTL Value. - Set a lower TTL value.
The default TTL value will automatically return after 24 hours.
Checking DNS Propagation
You can monitor DNS propagation using external tools such as:
- DNSChecker
- MXToolbox
Verify Your Name Servers
Before creating or modifying DNS records, make sure your domain is using the correct Name Servers.
Changes made on a DNS server that is not authoritative for the domain will have no effect.
TXT Record Formatting
DirectAdmin displays TXT records with quotation marks.
If you need to copy a TXT record to another service, remove the quotation marks unless the destination service specifically requires them.
